SAN FRANCISCO – “We are living in times where customer loyalty is decreasing. Is it possible to create a strong emotional relationship with your clients?,” asks Belgium marketing professor and social media author Steven Van Belleghem. “Yes,” he rhetorically answers, and even suggests businesses can become friends with their clients, although he acknowledges that’s a “difficult road.”
Client friendship “is about doing business with the heart and it is about involving people. That combination leads to the strong emotional bond. In the end, this leads to friends with benefits: more sales, more word-of-mouth and more loyalty,” Belleghem argues in a new 36-slide presentation hosted this month (September 2013) on SlideShare.
