POTTSTOWN PA – Montgomery County Community College has signed its first international dual-admissions transfer agreement with a private university in South Korea, Dongseo University, located in Busan, college President Dr. Karen A. Stout said Tuesday (Oct. 1, 2013).
“We are pleased to provide our graduates with an excellent study-abroad opportunity at Dongseo … where they can be a part of a diverse student body that represents more than 27 countries,” Stout said. “The partnership also serves as a strong cultural connection for the college’s growing population of Korean students.”
Under the agreement, MCCC students who graduate with Associate of Arts, Associate of Science , Associate in Fine Arts, Associate in Applied Science or Associate in General Studies degrees and have a 2.0 or higher grade-point average are eligible to transfer to Dongseo University in South Korea, provided that they fulfill specific admissions requirements.
The partnership with Dongseo marks MCCC’s 27th dual-admissions transfer agreement with a four-year institution, and is its first with an international university.
he college “is committed to providing as many transfer opportunities for our students as we possibly can,” said Stout. “We’re working to expand the way our students think about transferring; to look beyond what they ever thought was possible when they enrolled at a community college.”
Founded in 1992, Dongseo University enrolls about 12,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students each year, including more than 600 international students. The institution offers 53 undergraduate and eight graduate majors. The signing makes the college part of Dongseo’s global network of academic and industrial affiliations, which includes 125 colleges and universities in 30 countries.
